🥛Milk

What it is

Milk is one of the 14 EU-regulated allergens. A milk allergy is an immune reaction to milk proteins (mainly casein and whey), distinct from lactose intolerance, which is a digestive issue, not an allergy.

Where it hides

Beyond dairy products, milk proteins turn up in bread, processed meats, some margarines, flavoured crisps, and traces in dark chocolate. Look for casein, whey, lactoserum, or milk powder on the label.

Safety note

EU law requires milk to be declared on packaged food labels whenever it's used as an ingredient, even in small amounts.

Not medical advice: Informational only, not medical advice. If you suspect a food allergy, consult a qualified healthcare professional for diagnosis and guidance.
