🦪Molluscs
What it is
Molluscs — mussels, oysters, squid, octopus and snails — are one of the 14 EU-regulated allergens, and can trigger reactions independent of (though sometimes alongside) a crustacean allergy.
Where it hides
Beyond obvious seafood, molluscs turn up in oyster sauce, some paellas and seafood stocks, and squid-ink pasta or sauces.
Safety note
EU law requires molluscs to be declared on packaged food labels whenever they're used as an ingredient, even in small amounts.
