🌱Soy

What it is

Soy is one of the 14 EU-regulated allergens. A soy allergy is an immune reaction to soy proteins, and is most common in infants and young children, who often outgrow it.

Where it hides

Beyond tofu and soy milk, soy (often as lecithin E322, soy protein, or vegetable oil) is used widely in baked goods, chocolate, processed meats, and as a stabiliser in many packaged foods.

Safety note

EU law requires soy to be declared on packaged food labels whenever it's used as an ingredient, even in small amounts.
