Steps

  1. 1Rinse toor dal thoroughly and cook with 3 cups of water and half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles, or until soft and mushy.
  2. 2Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, then add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. 3Add chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent, then stir in minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
